                 Medical Illustrator

Duties and Responsibilities:

A medical illustrator creates original, polished and engaging visual. Applies the fundamental principles of light, form, space, and time to media. Discusses and researches anatomy and physiology to ensure medical accuracy. Collaborates with internal clients to ensure visual content is supported by evidence based medical information. Develops clean sketches and has a strong focus on storyboard s clearly communicate learning objectives. Uses appropriate software to each task based on medium advantages and limitation.

Salary: $ 53,080 in 2010 according to the BLS

Since medical illustration is a cross between medicine and art, an art, an aspiring medical illustrator should consider studying art as well as medicine. Ideally, a medical illustration career will start with a bachelors’ degree in either art or pre-medicine. Aspiring medical illustrators may also need to earn a Master of Arts or Science in medical illustration. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the (LPN) is being a positive presence in the lives of sick and injured patients is a rewarding experience. Many tasks are preformed regardless of the job environment. The (LPN) will usually be the first medical professional to work with a patient. Recording the patient’s history is one of the first duties. Other jobs the (LPN) performs include:

·        Giving medications as prescribed by a physician

·        Taking vital sign, such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight

·        Basic would care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas

·        Giving injections or medications

·        Immunizations

·        Taking medical histories

·        Entering information into computer systems

·        Managing IVs

·        Ensuring patients and their families understand release instructions

·        Supervising CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants)

·        Monitoring fluid and food intake and output

·        Moving patients safely

Salary: $ 42,279

Education: To be able to become a (LPN) you have to have a High School Diploma and clean criminal records. Meet the basic requirements for entering a training program for a career as an (LPN).

Home Health Aide

Duties and Responsibilities:

Change dressings. Perform a variety of duties as requested by client, such as obtaining household supplies and running errands. Accompany clients to doctors' offices and on other trips outside the home, providing transportation, assistance and companionship. Administer prescribed oral medications under written direction of physician or as directed by home care nurse and aide. Care for children who are disabled or who have sick or disabled parents. Massage patients and apply preparations and treatments, such as liniment, alcohol rubs, and heat-lamp stimulation. They help the elderly people do their personal needs.

Salary: $ 36,000

Education: They need to be National Association for Home Care and Hospice to be certified. To earn their credential, applicants must complete 75 hours of training, demonstrate their skill and pass a written examination. The BLS notes that candidates in some states may need to complete additional requirements to obtain certification.

                          

Yes I would like to be a home health aide because I would like to help elderly people. Cause I think that is a well-paid job and I think is very thoughtful for people to help other people.

Reflection: Yes I would like to be a health administrator because it is a well-paid job and it has to do in the medical field which I want to be in. That is why I would like to be a health administrator.

          Health Information Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of a Health Information Specialist are to obtain post and analyze medical, workload, finance, and the insurance data. And make sure that the patient’s information properly done, so practitioners can plan and evaluate health care provided to patients.

Salary: $ 20,000 - $25,000 (coding specialists)

            $ 23,000 - $30,000(Record Technicians)

            $ 30,000 - $ 40,000(Record Administrators)

Educational Requirements: The students should take a high school courses in business, information management, science, math and English.

Coding Specialist must have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Usually the training is done in a job, but classes are offered at technical schools and community colleges. To become certified, specialists must pass an examination.

No I would not like to become health information specialist because I want to become a medical doctor. This career is mainly about taking care of information and making sure that everything is in order for the doctor to see and then give the order.

*      Perform health training needs assessments.
*      Design and develop health education programs
*      Publish health education materials, information papers, and grant proposals.
*      Develop health education curriculum.
*      Teach health in public and private schools.

Education Requirements:

Students should take college preparatory courses during high school.

Health educators have, as a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in health education. Many have master’s degrees. To be certified or licensed to teach health in public schools requires a master’s degree and successful completion of a written exam in many states.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Genetic counselors are trained specialists who determine risk factors for hereditary diseases and disorders in people. The genetic counselors provide genetic testing and offer education and counseling to patients and their families.

 Salary: $ 49,646 - $65,168 Annually

Education: What they need is master’s degree it is required for the type of field. And also some states mandate licensure for the profession genetics counselor’s certification for the first time must have graduated from a training program approved by the American Board of Genetic Counseling for five years. The candidate may take the examination in any of three cycles during those five years. The examination consists of 200 multiple-choice questions in areas such as risk assessment and diagnosis, case preparation, genetics testing, psychosocial assessment, ethics, research and legal issues.

Answer: No I would not want to become genetic counselors. Because I’m specialized is medicine which is completely different to a genetic counselor.
