Pharmacy Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Pharmacy technicians typically do the following
v Take the
information needed to fill a prescriptions from customers or health
professionals
v Measure amounts
of medication for prescriptions
v Package and
label prescriptions
v Organize
inventory and alert pharmacists to any shortage of medications or supplies
v Accept payment
for prescriptions and process insurance claims
v Enter customer
or patient information, including any prescriptions taken, into a computer
system
v Answer phone
calls from customers
v Arrange
for customers to speak with pharmacists if customers have questions about
medications or health matters
Salary: $29,320
Education: What you need to become a
pharmacy technician is very simple. You are required to have a high school
degree or a equivalent. Pharmacy technicians typically learn through on-the-job
training, or they may complete a postsecondary education program. Some states
may require you to pass an exam or completing a formal education or training program.
